The 1960s and 1970s in Tunisia was a musical golden era. After it took it’s independence from the French Colonialist, the idea of the modern state imposed a specific style of songs under the slogan “Tunisia is the joy of life” (تونس بهجة الحياة) that the ruling authority used for its propaganda. Some rebelled against that propaganda with different musical and thematic choices, while the scene that Khamis Al-Ternan and Saliha contributed to – during the fifties and before – continued. In his effort to carve the identity of a local music project. We bring to you a collection of songs that marked that period.
